VERBUND is Austria’s leading electricity company and one of the largest producers of electricity from hydropower in Europe. Close to 100% of our electricity generation comes from climate friendly, renewable hydropower.

VERBUND as creator of the energy future

Since 1947, VERBUND – founded as Österreichische Elektrizitätswirtschafts-AG – has been helping to shape the energy future: even back then we relied on hydropower and thus renewable energies. Today, more than 70 years later, VERBUND is the largest and climate-friendliest producer of electricity in Austria. Almost 100% of our electricity comes from hydropower, supplemented with wind and thermal power.

Trading and transportation of electricity

VERBUND is active at all stages of value creation: from electricity generation and the transportation of electricity to trading and sales. We work constantly on innovative and sustainable solutions for private and business in order to be able to react to changes.

VERBUND as an employer

We rely on the expertise and competence of our employees. It is important to us to promote young talents and integrate them into the company early on. Career starters have the possibility to launch their career at VERBUND either through an apprenticeship or an internship.

Responsibility at VERBUND

We are committed to the principle of sustainability in all areas of our business. In the area of electricity generation, we focus on the renewable energy sources of water and wind. Our power plants thus contribute to climate protection and the avoidance of CO2 emissions. We invest in ecological measures such as fish passes to secure and improve biodiversity at our power plants.
